A year measured in learners, not press releases.
Lenillium Education exists to close South Africa's Maths and Science gap by placing a full AI-driven learning platform into under-resourced schools — funded entirely by corporate and individual donors, and free forever to the school. This report sets out what that model achieved by year-end 2026.
Across 19 active partner schools, the platform reached 12,871 learners in Grades 5–12. Where schools engaged consistently, learners recorded an average Maths and Science mark improvement of +13%, with several schools posting gains above 20%. Every rand of this impact is traceable to a specific school, a specific learner cohort, and a specific sponsor — which is what makes a Lenillium sponsorship reportable for Section 18A, B-BBEE and ESG purposes.
The numbers that matter to sponsors.
Two headline patterns emerged in 2026. First, utilisation drives outcomes: schools that used the platform most consistently posted the strongest gains. Second, results are school-type agnostic — private, government, technical and boarding schools all improved, proving the model is not dependent on existing infrastructure or affluence.

Learners Reached by School
Active partner schools, ranked by verified learner count. Source: Lenillium platform enrolment data, YE 2026.
We serve private schools, government secondaries, technical and boarding schools across an estimated six provinces — proof the platform works regardless of school type or geography. One school (Ladysmith Islamic) recorded a decline during a low-utilisation onboarding term and is reported honestly rather than excluded.
Where learners used it, marks moved.
Average Maths & Science mark improvement per active school, measured by comparing learner assessment results before and after platform adoption. The pattern is consistent: the schools that engaged most saw the largest gains.

Three schools — Zinniaville (+56%), Ubuntu Boarding (+23%) and Rustenburg Islamic (+22%) — demonstrate what deep adoption produces. Even at more modest utilisation, the majority of schools posted mid-single-digit to double-digit gains in gateway subjects that unlock medicine, engineering and the digital economy.
Why this work is urgent.
Lenillium's results sit against a national backdrop of fragile and volatile Maths outcomes. Understanding that context is what makes the case for sustained, measurable education investment.
NSC Pass Rate Trends — Gateway Subjects
Source: DBE NSC reports, 2022–2025. No directly comparable national figure is shown where a subject was not reported in a given year.
The national Mathematics pass rate fell from 69.1% in 2024 to 64% in 2025 — a reminder that gains are not guaranteed and can reverse quickly. Structural pressures remain acute: the majority of public schools still operate without a science laboratory or computer centre, and English-medium instruction depresses comprehension for many learners. A platform that is multilingual, low-bandwidth and self-paced is built precisely for these conditions.
Remarkable impact per rand.
Cost per Learner
A full CAPS-aligned, AI-driven, multilingual Maths + Science deployment — far below textbooks or tutoring of comparable scope.
A standard R200,000 sponsorship funds a complete four-year deployment for an entire school — roughly R74 per learner per year, with every rand tracked and attributed to the sponsoring brand.
Lenillium absorbs licences, deployment, teacher training, learner enrolment, four years of support and every content upgrade. The school pays nothing, at any point — and the sponsor receives a fully documented, four-year impact record.
Impact you can put on a scorecard.
A Lenillium sponsorship is more than goodwill. Because Lenillium Education holds Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status, every qualifying donation converts measurable educational impact into three distinct, reportable business benefits.
Section 18A
Tax-deductible up to 10% of taxable income, with a valid Section 18A certificate issued on receipt of funds. See the full guide →
B-BBEE SED
Qualifying spend counts toward the Socio-Economic Development element of your B-BBEE scorecard, benefiting previously disadvantaged communities.
ESG / SDG 4
Direct alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) for GRI and SASB reporting — backed by this verifiable data.
Every figure in this report is attributable to a named school and cohort. That traceability is what turns a donation into a defensible line item for your tax, transformation and sustainability reporting. For the detailed mechanics, worked calculations and claiming process, read the Section 18A tax deduction guide for corporate donors.
How these numbers were produced.
Transparency is the point of an impact report. Here is exactly how the figures above were compiled and what they do — and do not — claim.
- Learners reached counts enrolled learners with active platform accounts at the sponsoring school during the 2026 reporting period.
- Utilisation is the average proportion of enrolled learners actively using the platform, drawn from platform analytics — not a survey.
- Improvement compares learner Maths & Science assessment marks before and after platform adoption at each school; averages are school-level, not individually weighted.
- Reporting period is year-end 2026. Two onboarded schools were inactive in this window and are disclosed rather than dropped.
- Honest reporting means declines (e.g. one low-utilisation school) are shown, not hidden. Results reflect real classrooms, not a controlled trial.
Figures are provided for information and sponsor reporting. They are not audited financial statements. Sponsors receive school-specific, brand-attributed reports across the full four-year deployment, so impact can be tracked cohort by cohort over time.
